Capturing Images From An Intraoral Video Device
To capture images from your intra-oral camera or other video device into Diamond Dental Software, click the Capture Video Image button on the Add/Edit Patient Images screen. The Capture Video Image screen will appear. If your camera is properly set up you will see a live moving picture on this screen. When you have an image you want, click the Freeze button. This will freeze the image for your inspection. After inspecting the image, if you decide you want to keep it, click the Capture button. You will see the image added to the thumbnail viewer on the left side of the screen. If, after inspection, you decide that you don’t want the image, just click the Freeze button again and the live action will be resumed on the screen. You may save as many images as you want. You are not required to click the Freeze before clicking Capture, however it is suggested to make sure you have the image just the way you want it. After capturing all the images you want, click Finished and the captured images will be added to the patient’s record. If you click Cancel instead, no images will be recorded into the patient’s record.

Using a Foot Switch To Capture Images
Many intraoral cameras have buttons on them to activate the Freeze and Capture functions. Most likely these buttons won’t function within the Diamond Dental Software program. If you would like to have a “hands-free” method of activating your camera we suggest you get the Savant 3-Action Programmable Foot Switch from Kinesis. This foot switch can be specially configured by Kinesis to work with the Diamond Dental Software program. The foot switch can perform three actions. Pressing the small left switch will Freeze the image. Pressing the small right switch will delete the image. The main platform itself is also a switch and pressing this will Capture the image. The Savant 3-Action Programmable Foot Switch is available from Kinesis for about $129. Add/Edit Patient Image Controls
The Add/Edit Patient Images screen has many controls to facilitate importing, exporting, viewing, and modifying your images. These controls display as numerous icon buttons at the bottom of the screen. The icon picture will give you a clue as to their function and if you hold the mouse over the button, a “tool tip” will display giving you the button’s title.  So far in this section many of these buttons have already been discussed. The buttons with their associated tooltips can be viewed here. The other control buttons on this form will now be discussed briefly.
