Diamond Dental Software's Pocket PC Version is named Pocket 3Star. Before operating the program, you should have installed Pocket 3Star and updated your Compact Flash card as discussed in the Pocket 3Star Manual which is Appendix G of the Diamond Dental Software program manual.

To operate Pocket 3Star you need a Pocket PC handheld computer running Windows Mobile 2003 or Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC. Note that there is a Windows Mobile 5.0 Phone Edition that is not compatible with Pocket 3Star. Please note the the Pocket PC computer is NOT included with your Pocket PC program.

Opening Pocket 3Star
When you turn on your Pocket PC you will be brought to the Windows desktop. Use your stylus to tap the Start button. Then select Programs. Find the Pocket3Star icon (you may have to scroll down) and tap it. Pocket 3Star’s Main Menu screen will open.

Patient Search
The Pocket 3Star's Patient Search screen is very similar to the search with our desktop version. However, unlike the desktop version, you have the option to have archived patients appear in the Pocket PC search. This is designed to aid you in positively identifying patients who might call with an emergency as actually being your patient. You may search by Name, Account Number, or Home Phone. Tap in the letters or numbers with the keyboard that appears on the screen using the stylus provided with your Pocket PC. All the possible matches to your search criteria will display on the Patient Found screen. Select the one you want and tap OK.

Patient Information - eight screens
From the Main Menu tap the Patients button. You will perform the Patient Search and then the Patient Information screen will appear. The Patient Information section actually consists of eight screens. To access these screens, tap the View menu at the bottom of the screen. The choices will appear and you may toggle through them. The eight screens are Patient Information, Ledger, Medical History/General Notes, Rx History, Recall, and Patient Image, and Account Members. A sample of the Medical Notes screen is seen here.

Account Ledger
On the Account Ledger screen, Pocket 3Star displays the patient’s entire ledger going back as far as your desktop computer has the data. Because of limited screen space, we have placed each line item on two lines and each line item alternates in color for clarity. The Proposed menu at the bottom allows you to show or hide proposed procedures.
